I bought this for chocolate as I have tempered chocolate before using a double boiler and this seemed easier. When melting it says it will melt up to a pound of chocolate but you are only supposed to fill the bowl to a certain line and when it melts you have about a third of a bowl of chocolate not a full bowl as picture shows. It formed tiny lumps before it melted and after it cooled to 85 I poured into molds. It never set fully, most stuck in the molds and others went crumbley. Instructions have you melt and cool to 85 only, nothing about cooling and then reheating to 85 as it says on this site. I also melted some yogurt coating which worked fine other than the fact you could only fill to a certain line although you could keep adding as it melted. Really dinky little thing. Not much room at the base for catching drips. We got this and it ran really slowly. We let it run for half the day. Even after the party was over it was still running really slowly so that it was just a couple trickles down the mushrooms. Not satisfactory. Also be really careful because this is made of cheap plastic and will break very easily. I dropped the main shaft about 1 foot into the sink and one of the stablizer pieces broke off. We have chocolate covered strawberries in the summer and make fun things for parties.

I've never personally set up a chocolate fountain before but I have used others. Specifically, the last fountain I ate from at a party was a cheaper one and it was small, had to be constantly refilled and worst of all splashed chocolate outside the fountain. I LOVE the Wilton fountain. It's attractive, quiet, holds a lot of chocolate and pretty easy to clean. I've heard you have to be really careful with some fountains because they can easily clog. We didn't use any crumbly food (brownies, cake, etc) but we had absolutely NO problem with the flow of the chocolate. It cascaded well down all 3 tiers (though I think that has a lot to do with using the right chocolate). Speaking of, I highly recommend using the bags of Wilton chocolate. This is a nice, well run chocolate fountian. I had two I used at my daughters wedding... we had served between 350 to 400 people. I used the white chocolate in one and milk chocolate in the other. Once we opened the item and went through the parts list, we noticed that it was missing the auger that aggitates the chocolate. I went through the process here on amazon.com to return it, only to be told that we could not return this item. Amazon recommended we contacted the manufacturer and they informed us that they didn't have this part even available for individual distribution. So long story short, 50 something bucks plus shipping just to have a useless, incomplete fountain that we can't even return/sell or buy replacement parts for. This was actually my first item I ever bought through Amazon.com and I can say it will most likely be my last. This product was a great idea for a party of 10-15 people. I did have some trouble getting a constant flow of chocolate, but the kitchen (where I had it plugged in) was really warm and the chocolate was separating. I ordered this item with the intention of using it for my daughter's birthday party this weekend. When it arrived I assembled it to give it a test run---it did not work! Motor broken. I called Wilton for advice and they were willing to send replacement part but I would not get it in time for the party. Pressed for time I have ordered another one, paid overnight delivery charges I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the second one works!
